About Me

Lauren Richeson

I am an award-winning, juried artist based in Merritt Island, Florida, with roots in Silver Spring, Maryland. Her lifelong passion for art led her to participate in the National Gallery of Art’s High School Art Seminar and pursue a B.A. in Studio Art from the University of Maryland. Following a successful career in corporate administration, she shifted focus to art full-time, exhibiting nationally. Specializing in mosaics and kiln-fired glass, her work, often inspired by nature, explores color and fluidity, incorporating materials like shells, wood, and stone. Lauren also hosts mosaic and glass workshops locally and at art fairs across the U.S.

Artist Statement

From an early age, my fascination with glass has driven my creative journey, beginning with collecting antique bottles and sea glass. My work explores this enduring intrigue through glass mosaics, blending fused and upcycled materials, vintage glass, and natural elements. The tactile diversity of textures, colors, and translucency creates dynamic, three-dimensional compositions. I’m drawn to the challenge of translating organic subjects—native flora, fauna, and landscapes—into precise imagery, using tools that demand intentional, puzzle-like assembly. I seek to capture a balance of realism and abstraction, continually pushing boundaries with new techniques and materials.
